I love doing projects with the kids that involve different kinds of media. These projects really make the kids involve in a process of creating and think about material, design and concept.
Today involved printing and sculpting. We made birds on a tree with a nest. The tree was painted with cardboard dipped in black paint. Some did thick trunks, others light ones with lots of branches. On the tree we placed birds and peaks and feet, printed with potatoes and fingertips.
Then, we made the nests with nature items: dried grass and pine needles and flower petals. We used a lot of glue and stuck these items and also some craft feathers onto the tree. We also talked about how the birds really use exactly these things for their nest (mud instead of glue!).
Look at all these beautiful different interpretations.
Later, we made collage from an old toyshop catalogue. We used glue, gluesticks, scissors and stickers and the children created their storyboards with the images.
this is so cool. she actually told me exactly how each thing was done fingers, potato, cardboard etc. very interesting and this morning she asked how do we make milk and how do we make water . Her answers are much better than mine.
ReplyDeletethat is very great to hear! curiosity and experimentation are such important tools we want our kids to preserve. arts and science are perfect for further developing these. so... how do we make water? :)
